It's important to feel comfortable with the therapist you work with. I offer a free 30 minute initial meeting, which gives you the chance to talk about what you are looking for, and to see whether I am the right person for you. I would explain how I work, and attend to any questions or concerns you may have. You are welcome to contact me if you have any questions before deciding to arrange an initial meeting.
If we decide to begin therapy, we would start with six sessions and then have a review to see how you are finding the sessions and whether whether you would like to continue.
My aim would be to work with you for as long as is helpful to you. I provide both short-term and long-term therapy.
Sessions are weekly, and the fee is £50.
What are the therapy sessions like?
The sessions provide a space for you to share whatever is on your mind, how you feel, and how it is to be you. Therapy is an opportunity for you to feel seen, heard, and supported. You can talk about what is happening in your life now, or about past experiences and how these affect you today.
It is normal to feel anxious or uncertain at the beginning of therapy, but people tend to feel more at ease as we form a trusting therapeutic relationship. In the sessions, we would always go at a pace that feels right for you.
In the sessions, we may practice slowing down and paying attention to how you are right now as you talk. We may do this by noticing what your body might be communicating to us - through feelings, sensations, or how your breathing is. This can give us important information about your experience, which may otherwise be missed. This gentle noticing and self-awareness can be the key to healing and change.
During sessions we may explore what might be keeping you stuck by exploring your learnt beliefs or patterns of relating to others that have become unhelpful or destructive to you. We may also notice what is happening in the relationship between us within the session, as this can provide important information. The therapy also involves getting to know the times when you feel most grounded in who you are, and building on your strengths and resources.
